What is HHC? What is HHC, and how about THC-O? Recent hemp-derived cannabinoids are gaining popularity. How much do they have to offer? Here, HashDash answers these questions and more.
What is HHC, and how about THC-O? Recent hemp-derived cannabinoids are gaining popularity. How much do they have to offer? Read on, as HashDash answers these questions and more in this article.
Up until early 2021, the only hemp-derived cannabis compound most people talked about was cannabidiol (CBD). Many cannabis consumers have incorporated the non-psychoactive compound into their daily lives, reaping the many benefits that CBD may have to offer.
But a crop of new hemp-derived cannabinoids has been popping up recently and has been gaining popularity. These include HHC, THC-O, and THC-P. There are well over 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, and these are just a few examples of them.
The majority of the 100 cannabinoids are classified as minor, which means that they are found mainly in trace amounts. These amounts tend to have a small, if any, impact on the cannabis plant’s characteristics and properties. However, pretending they’re unimportant is a mistake, especially since technological advances in the cannabis industry now allow researchers to isolate and study these compounds.
The only cannabinoid you won’t find in abundance in hemp plants is Delta-9 THC, the most prominent one that gets you high, of course. In compliance with the 2018 Farm Bill, all cannabis products from hemp may only contain a maximum of 0.03% Delta-9. For a more in-depth look at Delta-8 THC, be sure to check out our blog article from Winter 2021.
New Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids
Thanks to the advances in the cannabis industry, hemp-derived cannabinoid products like Delta-8, Delta-10, HHC, THC-O, THC-P, and THC-V are now being offered by many brands.
While every consumer and every product is of course different, the common theme is that these hemp-derived cannabinoids can offer similar relaxing and even slightly sedative effects as their relative Delta-9. It would appear that Delta-8, Delta-8, Delta-10 HHC, THC-O, THC-P, and THC-V all lack the mind-stimulating and mentally uplighting effects that consumers recognize with Sativa-dominant cultivars.
Most consumers also report that there is less feeling of the munchies with these hemp-derived cannabinoids, but that there is some noticeable appetite stimulation. This could be beneficial for treating symptoms of appetite loss that can be caused by many conditions. Generally speaking, All of these hemp-derived cannabinoids have fewer psychoactive properties than its relative Delta-9, the most abundant compound found in cannabis
HHC Near Me
If you find yourself Googling the phrases “HHC near me” or Delta-8 near me,” you are likely looking to try these hemp-derived cannabinoid products. This can be a good thing for consumers who live in states that have yet to legalize adult-use cannabis, thus having restricted access to whole-plant medicine.
To start, we recommend minor cannabinoid-based edibles as the safest bet to getting the most bang for your buck. Be sure to find a reputable shop that sources its hemp from a quality cannabis farm. Hemp-derived cannabinoid products like HHC and Delta-8 have been appearing in edibles, topicals, capsules, and vaporizer cartridges in gas stations, due to their unregulated nature.
In fact, a Federal Appeals Court recently ruled that Delta-8 THC is completely legal at the federal level. This is actually an underrated victory for proponents of cannabis legalization. All cannabinoids should be federally legal, period.
At any rate, there is a good chance that the CBD, D8, and HHC products you find in your local gas station or tobacco shop are of low quality. We strongly recommend against wasting your money on these products and just finding a store that sells them instead.
"...Many consumers are discovering that Delta-8 offers some benefits without the overwhelming psychoactive effect."
Benefits of Microdosing Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids
Another aspect of the hemp-derived cannabinoid market that isn’t being talked about is the benefits of microdosing them. Because products like D8 will cause less of a psychoactive effect than “OG THC” many consumers are discovering that Delta-8 offers some benefits without the overwhelming psychoactive effect.
These consumer-based anecdotes have much basis rooted in long-standing cannabinoid research. Delta-8 has been shown to bind to both the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our brains, which could lead to some significant medical benefits.
A study conducted way back in the 1990s shows us that children under 13 with hematologic cancer displayed a significant reduction in side effects associated with chemotherapy and other treatments. The most notable of which was that vomiting and nausea were nearly non-existent.
We have just recently been seeing these hemp-derived cannabinoids being made available, which is thanks to advances in cannabis technology. As we continue to progress, we should see more unbiased studies conducted on isolated cannabinoids from both hemp and whole-plant, Delta-9 containing cannabis plants.
